The spiny oyster is not actually an oyster but more like a scallop. Spiny oysters are harvested by hand from the waters of the Gulf of California and often orange. The pink and purple varieties are even harder to harvest as they tend to live in deeper waters.
The shells are then mixed with turquoise to create these beautiful pieces.
